Insurance & Payment

Coverage That Works With Your Family

As a trusted pediatric speech-language pathology practice serving Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills, West Hills, Westlake Village, Tarzana, Encino, Malibu, and Simi Valley, we believe quality care should be accessible. Here's a clear, honest look at how insurance and payment work at SG Speech Therapy.

In-Network Coverage

SG Speech Therapy is an in-network, contracted provider for the following plans:

  • Kaiser Permanente

  • Easter Seals Southern California

If your plan is listed above, your visits are billed directly, and your out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan's copay, coinsurance, or deductible. We recommend confirming your specific benefits with your insurance before your first visit.

To get started with Kaiser or Easter Seals, reach out to your Kaiser or Easter Seals department directly and request SG Speech Therapy as your provider, they'll guide you through the referral or authorization process on their end.

Out-of-Network Coverage

For all other insurance plans, SG Speech Therapy is an out-of-network provider. This means payment is due at the time of service, and we provide you with a superbill, an itemized receipt that includes the ICD (diagnosis) codes and CPT (procedure) codes used in your child's session, that you submit yourself to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Reimbursement depends entirely on your individual plan's out-of-network benefits, and coverage isn't guaranteed. We recommend calling the member services number on your insurance card beforehand to ask what your plan covers for outpatient speech therapy.

To make this easier, we're happy to provide the specific ICD and CPT codes for your child's care so you can check your benefits ahead of time, and many of our families use a free app called Reimbursify to submit their superbill in just a few minutes from their phone.

Regional Center (Early Start)

SG Speech Therapy is a vendored provider with North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC), Vendor #PL2326. Through the Early Start program, we provide speech and language therapy and feeding therapy for children from birth to age three, at no cost to eligible families, as outlined in your child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).

Early Start is California's early intervention system for infants and toddlers, birth to age three, who have a developmental delay or disability. Coverage isn't automatic, your child's eligibility and the services they're authorized for depend on their IFSP.

To get started, families contact NLACRC directly to begin the intake and evaluation process. You can reach them at nlacrc.org. Once your child is enrolled, our team is happy to help you understand what's authorized and how it fits together.

Self-Determination Program

SG Speech Therapy accepts clients through the Self-Determination Program (SDP). SDP is an alternative way to receive regional center services that gives families more flexibility and choice, including the ability to choose their own service providers and manage an individualized budget, rather than going through traditional regional center vendorization. If your family participates in SDP, we're happy to work directly with you or your independent facilitator to set up services.

Common Questions

Which insurance plans do you accept?

We're in-network with Kaiser Permanente and Easter Seals Southern California. To get started with either, reach out to your Kaiser or Easter Seals department directly and request SG Speech Therapy as your provider. For all other plans, we're out-of-network and provide a superbill you can submit yourself for possible reimbursement.

What exactly is a superbill?

A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes the ICD (diagnosis) codes and CPT (procedure) codes used in your child's session. You submit it yourself to your insurance company, and they determine reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits. We're happy to provide these codes ahead of time so you can check your coverage.

Is my child automatically covered through the regional center?

Coverage isn't automatic. Early Start is California's early intervention program for infants and toddlers, birth to age three, with a developmental delay or disability. Eligibility and authorized services depend on your child's IFSP, so families need to contact NLACRC directly to start the intake and evaluation process at nlacrc.org.

What is the Self-Determination Program?

SDP is an alternative way to receive regional center services that gives families more choice and flexibility, including selecting their own providers and managing an individualized budget. SG Speech Therapy accepts clients through SDP.
